Applications

  • Crown gear

A crown gear (also known as a face gear or face gear) is a gear whose teeth protrude at right angles to the wheel face.In particular, a crown gear is a bevel gear with a pitch angle of 90 degrees.Pitch cones of any other angle are simply called bevel gears. [3] Crown gears usually mesh with other bevel gears or sometimes with spur gears, typical use is a crown and pinion system that allows rotational motion to move 90 degrees.

Spiral bevel gear

Spiral bevel gears are bevel gears with helical teeth.Its main application is in vehicle differentials, where the driving direction of the drive shaft must be rotated 90 degrees to drive the wheels.The helical design produces less vibration and noise than conventional spur or spur gears.Spiral bevel gear sets should always be replaced in pairs, i.e. the left and right gears should be replaced together because the gears are manufactured and ground in pairs.

Handedness

A right-handed spiral bevel gear is a gear whose outer tooth half slopes clockwise from the axial plane through the midpoint of the tooth when an observer looks at the face of the gear.A left-handed spiral bevel gear is a gear whose outer tooth halves slope counterclockwise from the axial plane through the midpoint of the tooth when an observer views the face of the gear.Note that spiral bevel gears and pinions always have opposite directions of rotation, including in the case of internal gears.Note also that the right-hand and left-hand designations apply equally to other types of bevel, hypoid, and helical gears.
