The CMM is guided by air bearings, so that there is no friction and wear between the guide rails, and long-term performance uniformity can be maintained. The high-pressure gas enters between the working surface and the guide surface through the small air holes in the air bearing, forming a uniform air gap. The normal working air gap of the air bearing is between 3 and 10 μm. Therefore, under normal pressure conditions, ensuring the purity of the compressed air and the flatness of the guide rail surface is the key to the normal operation of the air bearing.

    The quality of the compressed air directly affects the normal operation and service life of the three-coordinate. It is not ideal that the air source contains a considerable amount of impurities, which are mainly divided into three categories, namely water, oil and dust, of which about 80% are smaller than 2μm in size , the air compressor suction filter is unable to eliminate. The relative humidity in the atmosphere is generally as high as 65% or more. After being compressed and condensed, it becomes wet and saturated air and entrains a large number of liquid water droplets. They are the root cause of the corrosion of pipes, valves, three coordinates and other equipment. In winter, freezing will also block the pneumatic Small hole channels in the system. It is worth noting that even if the pure saturated air is separated cleanly, as the temperature decreases, there will still be condensed water precipitation. About every 10 °C drop, its saturated water content will drop by 50%, that is, half of the water vapor will be converted into Liquid water droplets.

Compressor types are divided into piston type and screw type; most air compressors use lubricating oil to lubricate and cool their moving parts (such as screw, piston, etc.), but pollute the compressed air. In the air compressor, the lubricating oil is in direct contact with the high-temperature compressed air, and the oil in the compressed air exists in three forms: "oil drop", "oil mist (aerosol)" and "oil vapor". Oil being brought into the air supply system from the press is not beneficial under any circumstances.

     The CMM is a precision measuring instrument. It is very important to be equipped with standard air source processing components to purify compressed air. At the same time, daily maintenance is also very important. Every day, use a clean, dust-free cloth dipped in an appropriate amount of anhydrous ethanol to wipe the working area of the air flotation rail from the inside to the outside.

    In the case of good air quality, the filter element in the air source filtration system of the coordinate measuring machine has a life cycle of one year. If the air quality is not good, please check the filter element regularly. If the filter element turns black or yellow, please replace the filter element in time to avoid equipment failure.
