CMMs are robust and easy to maintain, but they are not completely maintenance-free. Sensitive CMM measurement systems require a certain level of cleanliness. Fine dust particles on probe assemblies or standard ceramic balls can affect measurement accuracy. In addition, the measuring table must be maintained daily. Maintenance measures include regular cleaning and inspection of several components.
Contaminated components due to compressed air. Dust particles can seriously affect the function of sensitive components. Therefore, please do not use compressed air when cleaning the CMM.
Notice:
1. The cleaning agent used must be able to dissolve grease and must not be corrosive.
2. Preventive maintenance includes keeping the workpiece to be measured clean. The workpiece must be free of machining residues (eg metal chips, oil) and free of dust. The table must be cleaned before placing the workpiece on the measuring table.
The workpiece or fixture and the supporting surfaces of the measuring table must be kept clean. Particles under the support surface may affect measurement accuracy. In addition, damage to the measuring table and workpiece surface may occur.
Caution: The workpiece may slip off the table due to the greasy surface of the table, resulting in a personal injury hazard. Squeeze and smash the feet, and the legs rub the skin and become inflamed. No lubricating oil film is allowed on the measuring table and the workpiece.
1. Please use a vacuum cleaner to remove large particles.
2. Then clean the measuring table with a mild detergent.
Note: No cleaning agent residues are allowed to remain on the measuring table.
The rails are an integral part of the measuring table and should be kept as clean as the measuring table. Due to contamination or damage on the guide rail, it may cause damage to the air bearing that surrounds it on all sides. Dust particles and small burrs on the indentation can cause damage to the air bearing that surrounds it on all sides. Clean the rails once a day, or multiple times a day if necessary.
Dust accumulation may occur in threaded holes and threads. To ensure the threads are in good condition, contamination from the threaded holes should be vacuumed out.
The probe assembly can cause contamination such as dust particles. In addition, when a workpiece is detected, mainly during scanning, the material on the workpiece may be adsorbed on the probe assembly.
Note: Probes must be handled with care. Using force may loosen the bond between the probe assembly and the stem and the stem may bend or break completely. Do not force brutal operation when cleaning.
When the probe is not in use, keep the probe in a safe place, preferably in its original packaging. Clean the probe assembly with a lint-free cloth. Use detergent if necessary when cleaning. No cleaning agent residues are allowed to remain on the probe assembly.
When the workpiece material is adsorbed on the probe assembly, the adsorption layer can be dissolved with a special solution. Aluminium rust is dissolved with 10% NaOH-solution (sodium hydroxide) or 10% KOH-solution (potassium hydroxide). The solution should not be applied for too long as it may corrode the adhesive material that bonds the probe assembly to the probe stem due to corrosion.
The following measures must be taken when cleaning:
1. Please wear rubber gloves and protective glasses.
2. Change a rag (eg cotton rag) between the two solutions and use the rag to clean the probe assembly.
3. Immediately after this, rinse the probe assembly with water and allow the probe assembly to dry.
In order to ensure a smooth calibration without errors, the standard ceramic balls must be clean and undamaged. Clean standard ceramic balls with a lint-free cloth. Use detergent if necessary when cleaning. No cleaning agent residues are allowed to adhere to the standard ceramic balls.
Probe suction cups must be carefully maintained to avoid contamination. When the probe suction cup is not in use, store the probe suction cup in a place free of dust and dirt, such as a cabinet or drawer.
